Group II alkaline-earth metal (especially for Mg, Ca, and Sr) compounds have been recognized as a great treasure for chemists in the past decades owing to their unique chemical properties and important roles in synthetic chemistry as catalysts or intermediates. Among them, alkaline-earth metallacyclic complexes bearing diborane-bridged tetraamide ligand have never been synthesized and studied. This work has three important features: (i) A series of mono/di alkaline-earth metal (Mg, Ca, and Sr) complexes bearing diborane-bridged tetraamide ligand were synthesized for the first time. (ii) Luminescent studies on these complexes reveals notable blue to blue-violet fluorescence spectroscopies. (iii) The cooperation of alkaline-earth metals and BN heterocycles produces unique architectures and enhances fluorescence characteristics, which will significantly benefit alkaline-earth organometallic chemistry in general.
