    The ceremony to appoint Professor X. Sunney Xie as the Guest Professor of the Department was held on September 7th, 2001. Currently, Professor Xie is a professor in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, Harvard University. After the ceremony, Professor Xie delivered a speech on "The Spectroscopy, Imaging, and Dynamics of Single Bio-molecules".
